Breathless

It took me a while to complete Breathless by Dean Koontz. The storyline included several characters on their various journey's that eventually crossed paths. It also spoke of creatures that would soon be discovered and change the lives of people that encountered them. This book was a good read. It did get slow towards the middle pf the book but picked up as the characters started to cross paths with each other and as I understood why he chose these characters. As the story cam to an end,  couple of the character's story was not completed so it left me wondering what happened to those characters, why were they introduced, and how where they influenced or changed by the events in the story.
Overall this was an intriguing read and I hope to read and complete his Frankenstein series.

The Way I Act Books

Although we, as parents, want our children to be resourceful and successful, we also want them to retain a since of manners and morality. The way I act books are books that talk about and teach children how and why they should care about others and treat others compassionately. I have a three year old and although I help him learn academic tools needed for preschool, I want him to learn and use tools that will develop his character, create and nourish relationships that he will establish,  teach him to respect himself and others, and exercise honesty, kindness, and acceptance. Virginia Kroll has created books that address these issues. Makayla Cares About Others, a book by Kroll, talks about using your talents. Makayla's, the main character, knack for fixing things compels her to use that talent to help people in her family and in her neighborhood. It also mentions life events like death and the emotions that are usually related to them. This will help children recognize emotions and pay attention to how people may feel and how they may be able to help them. The book also talked about compromise and putting others first.
These are great children books that help children (and adults) to remember to care for and help others.
